BATTLE MINDSET SERIES DAY 1/7

Here’s the #1 mistake (from my experience) dancers do at battles.

They’re either trying to do too much OR they're trying something new the day of the battle.

If you have been training at your 100%, you can’t expect to show up the day of the battle and perform at your 120%, right?
That would be impossible since you’ve never trained at this percentage before— yet there you are trying to push yourself to reach a level that you don’t even know what it feels like in the first place anyway.

That only adds extra pressure and stress on an already stressful situation.
Don’t try to do too much and overcompensate because you are thinking
‘OH MY GOD I’M IN THIS BATTLE, HOW DO I PASS PRELIMS?”

You pass prelims by showing what you are good at.
That’s what we want to see. We wanna see YOU in your element.
show us what you got.

Do you think that high perfomance athletes show up at the Olympics and go like
“let me try something new today” or “let me switch up my routine a little bit” NO.
They go and do what they have been trained to do over and over and over and over again. That’s how they win.
So why are you showing up at the battle trying to do something else than you?

The battle space is not the space to explore, YES YOU CAN TAKE RISKS in time and with experience, however it is the space to represent yourself, to show us what you got in your now, what are your strong points— in your now? what makes you YOU?

If you are good at doing hand waves for example then you wanna go ahead and do handwaves in your prelim round; don’t keep that like “my precious”.
Let it out in the moment. Make people go crazy. SHOW OFF.

People are out there waiting for you to enchant them with your movement, and regardless if you are a beginner or not, if you enjoy what you are doing, others won’t have any choice but to enjoy it too. Cause It’s all magic my love. And staying in your center in every given moment regardless of the context or the environment you are in, is revolutionary + magnetic af.

hope this helps.

have the nicest day ever!

waves of love,
Alex
